INTERVIEW: dIANE pERNET talks to Filep Motwary: THE WOMAN WHO UNSHADED MY HORIZONS

(Jesus Sandoval) Dear iDEALS, I will not waste any time for introduction. Here is the interview of Diane Pernet, my friend and mentor. If you wanna know what I mean, click on the December 2005 archives of "Un nouveU iDEal" or just visit her blog "ASHADEDVIEWONFASHION" and click on the "DP HISTORY "

Filep Motwary: There is a mystery around you. Although you are surrounded by so many people everyday there is always a door for which only yourself has the key. Is this hard to achieve?Diane Pernet: No, not hard at all. I have always been a very private person and in fact even though I know many people, I really see very few. I like people a lot but I need time to myself. filepMotwary:How do you manage to do so many and different things in 24 hours? dIANEPERNET :I feel that I should be doing more.fM: Do you ever regret for being born as a woman?

dIANEPERNET:
Never!
fM:Do you feel threatened by men or the power they have nowadays especially in the Arab Countries, Europe and the U.S? dIANEPPERNET: I think a good motto is, “respect all, and fear none.”filepMotwary : Would you prefer to have been born in a fairytale world? Which Fairytale? dianePernet: Now I will start to sound like I’m running for the Miss. America pageant, sure, I would love a world where no one suffered from poverty, war, disease, famine, the elements that would be a dream world. But if you are asking me if I would have liked to be born into a fairy tale, probably not even thought it would be fun to kiss a frog and watch him transform into my Prince Charming.
(Siggi Oddsson)fM:I know it’s been a while but how did it feel being La Ultima Divina” in the Gypsy Kings video. How did they find you? dianePernet:It was quite funny; there was a photographer/video director, Philippe Gaultier that I knew from Paris and he was working on the Gypsy Kings video. Seems that he was looking for the perfect Phaedra and thought that that was I. filepMotwary: What was your opinion after visiting the first Athenian Fashion Week and what were the comments you have heard about the second one? Do you think there is a promising future for the Greeks? dianePernet: I enjoyed my very short trip to Athens and would love to attend the next one. As to what I heard from Parisians about it, they were very curious to see how things develop and left with a good and positive impression for the Athens FW future.

filepMotwary: What is ideal for you?
dianePernet: Your blog.
(Asi)
filepMotwary:Any Ideal projects coming up?dianePernet:I am working on an Internet TV program and looking for a sponsor for the show. It would be my dream to do the program with my friend Robb Young. We need sponsoring for that, I don’t want to sound too pretentious but I do believe that the world needs us. I am planning a trip to Buenos Aires and maybe LA as a talent scout for the festival d’Hyeres sometime in the summer or late spring. I am finishing up my flyer for advertising on
www.ashadedviewonfashion.com because I would like my blog to feed me as it feeds others.

filepMotwary:Is there a message you would like to give for “Un NouVeau iDEAL” or myself? dianePernet:Respect all...filepMotwary:How would you like to be remembered in 2100 a.C? dianePernet:It would be nice to be remembered for my body of work, 13 years as a designer, a reportage photographer before that, 15 years documenting our times with digital technology. Honestly, I don’t know if in 2100 I will be remembered at all.
filepMotwary: tHANK YOU dIANE
